On the morning of April 4th, Professor Ma Chaozhi and Professor Bian Yinbing came to the College of Plant Science and Technology Class 1707 Party Branch to attend to the group meeting,whose theme was "Learning the stories of sages, inheriting the spirit of farming and reading". At the meeting, they shared the cultural stories of Mr. Liu Houli and Mr. Yang Xinmei , inspiring students to learn their spirit.The college counselor Jia Haoyang was also attended.
Learning the story of sages and inheriting the spirit forever
Mr. Liu Houli’s immeasurable love for rape and truth left an deep impression on Ma Chaozhi. Seeing students here, Ma Chaozhi recalled her days as a student of Mr. Liu Houli. A lot of emotion raced through her mind.“It took 3 hours to walk to field. But Mr.Liu would give detailed introduction along the way. So I was overwhelmed by his deep devotion soon.”She added,“Mr.Liu still sowed like a young man at the high age of 74.In order to be in the forefront of scientific research, he still went to the library frequently after retiring. He was very receptive to different points of views in ordinary academic exchanges ......”Through Ma Chaozhi's narration, students learned Liu Houli's scientific spirit of seeking truth from facts in different perspectives.
As a student of Professor Yang Xinmei and the head teacher of Class 1707, Bian Yinbing not only helped students solve difficult problems but shared his teacher’s stories as well. "Mr. Yang Xinmei visited Japan when he was 70, and introduced 217 strains. In order to select fungi, Mr. Yang went everywhere to found a suitable place for edodes cultivation experimental base . Finally he locked the San Ligang Town , Suizhou, and successfully selected 2 strains.” In Bian Yinbing’s mind, Mr. Yang was so deeply concerned about the agricultural industry. He used the story of lentinus edodes drove people become rich to encourage students to care about farmers and to be a college student with patterns and feelings. “Professor Yang knows how to balance himself, and regards work as a natural enjoyment.”said Bian Yinbing. He told students to learn to "balance themselves", to look to the sages, to make the pursuit of "spiritual enjoyment" become the greatest happiness, and to learn useful major earnestly.
Act your glorious youth and carry forward the tradition
These narration aroused students' curiosity about old professors’ good daily habits and the source of their interest in science . New problems were put forward, which made atmosphere lively again.Talking from professor's college days to old age, Ma Chaozhi and Bian Yinbing made the students re-know professors. Actually,their lives were quite brilliant .They had extensive interests,such as basketball, Taijiquan, Long-distance run and so on. It inspired students to learn to know themselves in the process of growth, to know the society and to do good things for our country and society.
As poetry said, people's hearts are naturally melancholy when it is Qingming Festival. After the forum, participants all went to laid flowers in front of the two gentlemen’s statue.
