(reported by Ge Xianhong) An expert group of Oil Crops Committee of The Crop Science Society of China(CSSC) is organized to evaluate the research production The establishment of B.napus rape cytoplasmic male sterile line "Song you" finished by rapeseed team in our school. They considered that this research production proposes a sterile system which is in a new style and has greatly utility value. Professor Li Zaiyun from College of science and technology in HZAU is the first person to finish this research production. The PHD Du Xuezhu, Kang Lei, Li Pengfei guided by him also did a great number of useful work in this research production.

It is reported thatby the somatic cell fusion of Brassica napus L. cultivars HD3 and radix Isatidis for more than a decade, this team obtained the somatic hybrids contained the form of parents' chromosomes and the full MAALs of B.napus rape contained each of the woad chromosomes, and, depended on it, this team also has selected inap CMS. This CMS shows the characteristics of complete sterility of Stamens because of Carpel development and the normal development of pistil, and both of those characters are stable in different years and locations. Its mitochondrial genome is a recombinant of parents’ and the mitochondrial gene mainly comes from woad while a small amount comes from B.napus rape. After the molecular identification, this CMS is considered to be different from the Pol CMS discovered by Prof. Fu Tingdong and the Ogu CMS which is in common use overseas. Then, MAALs is used as a bridge to transfer a restoring genes on the chromosome of woad into B.napus rape so as to acquire a restorer line of inap CMS with characteristics of abnormal development of the stamens, high setting rate of selfing and high stigma exsertion rate.

Academicians of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Prof. Fu Tingdon ,Prof.Guan Chunyun and other five professors reviewed the relevant technical data, listened to the report results and carried out the field investigation and inquiry as well. The experts believed this research production focuses on the problem that the sterile system is limited in the production of hybrid rapeseed all over the world, and then created the CMS and restorer line of “song you” which is in a new style and has greatly utility value. In addition, it also made the assembly of three lines came true which is up to international advanced level. The experts suggested that this research production to be Provided for the use of the relevant units as soon as possible in order to accelerate breeding process.
